IntroductionThe Ciclos Uno training camp is an early season break in Majorca to enable cyclists of all levels to get in some early season training miles. The HistoryThis all started several years ago when, fed up with the winter and Christmas, 6 of us booked a last-minute 7 day package holiday to Majorca on 4th January. The sun shone for a week and we did 400 miles whilst living like real Pros. Next year it was two weeks and again sunshine. 70 degrees in January and only two hours away. The date has drifted back slightly to coincide with the Pro tour, but the thought of this pre-season break gets us through the winter. All the regulars seems to know exactly how many days it is until departure. We try always to make the camp coincide with the Pro Tour of Majorca, and one year we had an extra bonus when a stage started within 100 yards of the hotel. Unlike the big tours the pros are only too happy to stop and chat - after all this tour is only a training ride for them. I even have a photo of Franco Ballerini getting my wife's autograph. If February is too early for you, why not try the Ciclos Sun Camp in the last two weeks of April. This camp has been running for 25 years, and has good training group structure. Many people go to both. For Veteran racers, Ciclos Uno organize a trip to the 5-day Vets tour of Majorca, usually held late season. This is very tough, but caters for all levels and everyone gets a prize. Note that you don't have to finish (or even start!) every day but can partake as you wish. Again contact Trevor at the shop for details. 2009 Taurus Park Cycling Holiday We are pleased to announce the details of the Taurus Park Cycling Holiday 2009 which runs from 31st January 2009 to the 14th February 2009. Because of the great camp we had in 2008 and the number of people taking part, we have been able to negotiate an even better rate for 2009. In fact we now have 14 nights for a price similar to that which we paid for 12 nights in 2008. The suggested flight is EasyJet 3211 from Stansted on 31st January 2009 but you can of course book a flight of your choice - at any time during the two weeks. There may also be a smaller group from the Glendene CC the following week to coincide with school holidays. If you are interested in that please call Trevor @ Ciclos Uno on 020 8500 1792. We will be selling this holiday in Euros for 2009; at yesterdays exchange rate (23rd Sept) 2 weeks will cost you £401 (GB Pounds). Last year 12 nights was £399 (GB Pounds!!)
You should book your flights as soon as possible as on 16th Sept 08 the flight was only £62 (GB Pounds) return. Flights will only increase as the time gets nearer to departure. Hopefully the PRO TOUR of Mallorca will be held as it has for the past 3 years during our stay, but exact dates are yet to be announced. We hope you will join us in 2009 to start your season off with some good base miles which you just cannot do at home. Yes 3 weeks! This is because of the Easter holiday and the May bank holidays both falling during this period.
