With a Bank Holiday deluge threatened and inevitable, a lot of entrants opted to stay indoors rather than subject themselves to two hours or more of driving rain or a long journey to an abandoned event. It was a treat for the early starters and a surprise to all that the rain actually held off for the first hour. But conditions turned turned grim as the wind rose, temperatures dropped and the rain became relentless. A diesel spillage on the Buckden roundabout added to riders' woes and some riders opted out of the second lap and into the warm and dry of the HQ. Others had their minds made up for them by punctures. Congratulations and hats off to those who stuck out one of the most horrible days on the F1 for a long time. The top guys, as ever, shrugged it off with some fast times, Oliver Jones, API Metrow , emerging the clear winner.
